Our own beer: VAT'33
Tjaps is the home of VAT'33 brewery. It started at our own tap: we wanted a witbier that could stay on all summer. Ruud from Eembier did not have one, but offered to brew it for us. That is how Keiwit became our first own beer.
Since then a whole line has followed, from light to full-bodied. Rock-solid beer from Amersfoort, the 'Keistad': made out of love for the city, always pure and honest. At Tjaps, VAT'33 is always on tap, next to the guest beers.

Goose Island komt terug! Na het succes van de vorige Tap Takeover hebben wij nu de eer om de release van de 2026 versie van hun Bourbon County Brand Stout te hosten. Elk jaar op black friday en geen dag eerder. Er zullen ook een aantal bijzondere bieren open gaan, die normaal niet voor de export zijn.

- Pils & lager
- Crisp, clear and dry. The familiar basis, but a good craft lager has more flavour than you might think.
- Blonde
- Golden and easy-going, often with a soft malty sweetness. A great first step.
- Wheat & witbier
- Hazy and fresh, with notes of citrus, coriander or banana. A summery thirst-quencher.
- IPA
- Hoppy and aromatic: from bitter and dry to juicy and fruity in a New England IPA like our KEIPA.
- Tripel
- A Belgian classic: golden, spicy and strong in alcohol, yet deceptively smooth.
- Stout & porter
- Dark and roasty, with coffee, chocolate or caramel. From light and dry to heavy and barrel-aged.
- Sour
- Tart and refreshing, often with fruit. For anyone who thinks beer is not their thing.
- Alcohol-free
- Full flavour without alcohol, like KEIPA 0,33%. Alcohol-free beers are marked separately on the tap list.

At Tjaps in Amersfoort-Vathorst, Leeghwater 5. Our 23 taps pour our own VAT'33 beer next to rotating guest beers from the Netherlands and abroad, plus a bottle and can list. You can also eat from the charcoal grill, and Amersfoort Vathorst station is a few minutes' walk away.
How many craft beers does Tjaps have on tap?
Twenty-three. VAT'33 is always on, the guest beers rotate. The tap list on our site comes straight from Untappd, so you see live what is pouring, with style, ABV and price per size.
What is VAT'33?
VAT'33 is the brewery Tjaps is the home of. It started with Keiwit, a witbier for our own tap; now there is a whole line, like KEIPA (New England IPA), HEY!Tjappie (golden ale with maple syrup) and Sloppy Joe (tripel). The story is on vat33brewing.com.
Can I taste before I choose?
Yes. Everything on tap can also be ordered as a beer flight: four 15 cl glasses. That way you can put different styles side by side. Not sure? Ask at the bar; we are happy to help.
Can I take craft beer home?
Yes, in a crowler: a 50 cl can we fill at the tap and seal straight away. That works with every beer on tap, for the 50 cl tap price minus € 2.00. A crowler is for home only, not for drinking at our tables.
Do you have alcohol-free craft beer?
Yes. Alcohol-free beers are marked separately on the tap list. VAT'33 also brews KEIPA 0,33%, an alcohol-free New England IPA with black pepper.
What is a tap takeover?
At a tap takeover a brewery takes over a good part of our taps for an evening. You taste beers you rarely come across in Amersfoort. The next ones are in our agenda.
Can I eat at Tjaps with my beer?
Yes. Tjaps is a grill restaurant and craft beer bar in one: steaks, burgers and more from the charcoal grill, dinner from 17:00. The beer pairing on our site shows which beer from the tap goes with which dish.
