Tjaps is next door to the ICOONtheater in Vathorst, a one-minute walk away. You eat from our charcoal grill and walk straight on to your show or film. We love it when you start your evening with us. Two things keep it relaxed: book about two hours before the show starts, and add the start time to your booking.

Why we ask
On show nights, and certainly on Fridays and Saturdays, a lot of theatregoers arrive around the same time. And they all want to leave around the same time too. We completely understand: nobody wants to miss the start of a show.
But when twenty tables order at once, twenty tickets hit the grill at once. That means waiting, and a rushed feeling at your plate. Neither of us wants that. If we know when you need to leave, we plan your table and your order around it. You eat at ease, and you're in your seat on time.
How to keep it relaxed
Book, especially at the weekend
We're often full on Fridays and Saturdays, and even more so on show nights. Up to eight people can book online with instant confirmation.
Add the start time to your booking
Mention in the remarks that you're going to the ICOONtheater and when the show starts. For us, that's the most important line of your booking.
Allow two hours
Book about two hours before the show. That gives you a starter and a main without rushing, and plenty of time to get to the hall.
Early beats tight
Dinner starts at 17:00. The earlier you sit down, the calmer it is at your table and in the kitchen.
Tell us when you arrive
That way your host knows straight away when you need to leave, and we'll bring the bill without you having to ask.
Short on time? Come back afterwards
Skip dessert and come back after the show for a beer, a glass of wine or a cocktail. Perfect for talking it over.
Afternoon show or film?
Then turn it around: the ICOONtheater first, then dinner with us. On Saturdays and Sundays we open at 15:00 and dinner starts at 17:00.

How far is Tjaps from the ICOONtheater?

Where can I eat before a show at the ICOONtheater?
At Tjaps, next door to the theatre. We cook on a charcoal grill: steaks, burgers and vegetarian dishes too, with 23 beers on tap, wine and cocktails. Book about two hours before the show and add its start time to your booking.
What time should I book if the show starts at 20:00?
Around 18:00. That gives you an hour and a half at the table and gets you there in good time, as the ICOONtheater opens its hall about fifteen minutes before the start. Earlier is even better: dinner starts at 17:00.
How do I let you know I'm going to a show?
Add it to the remarks of your online booking, with the start time of the show. Forgot? Tell your host when you arrive. We'll take it into account in the kitchen and bring the bill in good time.
Can I still come to Tjaps after the show?
Yes. After the show you're welcome for drinks, with 23 beers on tap, wine and cocktails. On Fridays and Saturdays we're open until 01:00.
Where do I park for Tjaps and the ICOONtheater?
Parking is free in the large car park between the Jumbo and the Lidl. Park once and walk from Tjaps to the theatre. Coming by train? Amersfoort Vathorst station is a few minutes' walk away.
